Plantation Shutters

Plantation Shutters are a popular choice for many contemporary homes. They are interior shutters which have a large wide slat size and are usually a permanent fixture, although more modern shutters are able to be opened in a bi-fold or tri-fold type frame for maximum functionality and effect.

Due to their large slat size, Plantation Shutters are able to let in large amounts of light, and also allow for maximum airflow to assist with keeping a room cool. They are especially popular in warmer and tropical climates. They were originally made popular in grand old houses of the USA cotton plantations, which is where their name originated. While there are many types of shutters, they are all commonly referred to as Plantation Shutters.

Plantation Shutters are also very stylish as their aesthetics lend them to being formal or casual, depending on the room they are dressing. They are able to be tailored to fit almost any windows size, and are available in a range of materials including traditional timber, aluminium, and PVC.

Timber shutters are the perfect choice when going for the natural wood look. They can also come in a painted finish to match your décor. Natural timber shutters can come in a range of different timbers and stains.

Aluminium shutters are usually the best option if you are placing your shutters externally. They have thinner blades than timber or PVC and can be powder coated to suit any décor. They are a great choice for external applications, or even wet areas such as kitchens or bathrooms.

PVC shutters are the most budget friendly, with the added benefit of being UV and fade resistant. They are also a good choice for wet areas and come in a wide variety of colours and styles.
